NAKA Dance Theater y Mujeres Unidas y Activas les invitan cordialmente a la celebración del grupo de Telares Maya Mam! Desde el año pasado venimos trabajando con este grupo de mujeres tejedoras originarias de los siguientes municipios de Huehuetenango Guatemala: Todos Santos Cuchumatan, Xjan Xwan (San Juan Atitan) y Santiago Chimaltenango.
Te invitamos a que aprendas de las mujeres, sobre sus prácticas de tejido, ver sus creaciones y compartir comida, historias y baile. Musica en vivo a cargo de Marimba Jerónimo.
Nuestros Círculos de Aprendizaje brindan espacio y tiempo para conectarse, expresar lo que está sucediendo en nuestras vidas, aprender unos de otros y desarrollar nuestras habilidades de liderazgo y organización colectiva. El enfoque es centralizar y apoyar a estas mujeres líderes emergentes y practicantes de aspectos culturales como el tejido Maya Mam.
El evento será en mam y español. ¡y todos son bienvenides!

Join NAKA Dance Theater and Mujeres Unidas y Activas for a celebration with our Indigenous Maya Mam Weaving Circle participants! Since last year, we have been working with a cohort of women weavers originally from the following municipalities in Huehuetenango Guatemala: Todos Santos Cuchumatan, Xjan Xwan (San Juan Atitan) and Santiago Chimaltenango.
We invite you to join us to learn from the women about their weaving practices, view their creations and share food, stories and dance. Live marimba music by Marimba Jeronimo.
Our Collaborative Learning Circles provide space and time to connect, express what is happening in our lives, learn from each other and develop our collective organizing and leadership skills. We uplift and center emerging women leaders and cultural practitioners of Maya Mam Backstrap Weaving.
The presentations will be in Mam and Spanish. All are welcome!
