Anniversary of a Lynching

May 2015 marked the fifth anniversary of the murder of Anastasio Hernandez-Rojas. Thanks to support from EastSide Arts Alliance and the Oakland Fund for Children and Youth, NAKA was able to bring The Anastasio Project to perform at the Day of Action to Stop Border Brutality in solidarity with Maria Puga, Hernandez-Rojas' widow, and many other victims speaking out against injustice. Video edited by Steven Sanchez with interns Michael Turner, Jr. and Hector Torres.

Anniversary of a Lynching was created as part of EastSide Arts Alliance and NAKA Dance Theater's The Anastasio Project and features Maria Puga, Mishel Ramos, Carlos "Tane" Madrigal, Patricia Barajas, Jose Navarrete, Jesus Mendez, and Birdie Gutierrez. Videography and post-production by Steven Sanchez with post-production interns Hector Torres and Michael Turner, Jr.
